We left Shaun to put on the titles after our meeting the other day as we were limited for time. He felt that the original font we chose was too plain, so asked us what we felt about using the same font that Sin City use and we felt that it would suit our production as it is a similar film. After putting the footage and titles together, the voiceover of me explaining the storyline did not seem to fit with the shots, so we felt that it was best to leave this out of the opening. I still think it would have been best adding a line to close the opening but the group decided that it left the enigma by keeping dialogue limited.
We found sound for the production titles off of YouTube and emailed the uploaders of all the songs we used:
"Dear Composer,
I am a member of Hellsing productions, part of an A-Level media group, who are producing an amateur film opening. We have settled on a gangster, crime genre and feel would like permission to use your music as we feel it suits our opening well.
By not replying to this emailing, you are consenting for us to use your music.
Thank you.
Laura."
Using Adobe After Effects, Shaun was able to add the effect of fire in between the dropping of the cigar and the street explosion. We felt that this would continue the two shots better, and it does.
After talking to peers about their opinions on the production and areas for improvement, most were impressed but some did comment on the unstability of the camera. Unfortunately, this is something that we cannot change due to the restrictions of equipment (e.g. we couldn't afford a dolly so used a skateboard).
