Camera Shots



ELS - Extreme Long Shot
      • A horizon shot/ infinity shot/ establishing shot
      • Usually shows landscapes or cityscapes
      • Can show a small figure in relation to its larger surroundings
LS - Long Shot
      • Whole figure closer to camera than ELS
      • Shows the character in relation to surroundings
      • Sometimes used as an establishing shot
MLS - Medium Long Shot
      • Character is detailed more but can still see whole character
      • Setting still visible
MS - Medium Shot
      • Shows character knees/waiste up
MCU - Medium Close Up
      • Show character from chest up to the top of their head
      • Character is more detailed
      • Typically used when two people have a conversation/shot reverse shot
CU - Close Up
      • Very detailed image of the character
      • Shows character from shoulders up
      • Best used to show character's emotions
ECU - Extreme Close Up
      • Focuses on a small part of an object/character
      • Used to show extreme emotion on faces (particularly by focusing on the eyes)
